Hand-gathered from a single stream of transparent red with opaque white swirls, sheared, then rolled on a machine, mark this as one of the earliest of the Christensen Agate co. products, probably from their first plant in Payne OH in 1925-26. This example was twisted several times creating a pattern of swirls that are nearly horizontal and has one of the busiest patterns of any transitional marble I've ever actually had my hands on. These early CAC transitionals are very rare, especially in this large, for a Christensen, size and color.
CONDITION: MINT 9.2 The surface is wet and shiny with no sign of play or use at all. There are however many tiny melted pinpoint dimples that are all clearly as-made from what looks like tiny air bubbles that made it too close to the surface and collapsed inward rather than popping outward.
