The figure in this old German handmade is well centered if not greatly detailed. Judging from the stance and shape of the critter represented by the figure, I would say it is a MEERKAT, which is very rare indeed. Also, this size at just a hair over 1" is considered to be a very rare find, as the great majority of these old sulphide marbles were somewhere around 1-1/4". The single pontail mark, which can be seen just southwest of center in the last picture labeled "BOTTOM", appears to be slightly and very smoothly ground.
CONDITION: NEAR MINT(+) 8.9 The surface is nice and shiny with just some very light wear that is well described by the pictures. There are no chips, pinpricks, moons, or bruises; nor, can I see that the marble was ever actually played with. Click on the first picture, labeled "FRONT", to bring up a greatly enlarged image for a very detailed view of the slight wear present. You may click here to view the grading system I use. Size 27.61mm or 1.087" at the equator. | |||||
