Here's a really great example of one of Akro Agate's most popular collectibles: a red and yellow Popeye that is just a hair, 1/100", under 3/4". The color distribution is pretty equal and is all on or near the surface including the window of the defining clear with white wispy strands. The little eyelash-like marks are present at the poles, fifth and sixth images, indicating this sample is one of Akro's earlier productions, circa 1910s-1922.
CONDITION: MINT 9.4-9.5 Pristine wet shiny surface with no sign of play or wear of any kind. There are some microscopic pinpoints that are clearly as-made and too small to see even with these enlarged photos. I had to use a very bright light and printer's loupe to find them. I am trying to neither exaggerate or understate their presence, I just want you to know what the actual condition is. You may click here to view the grading system I use. Size 18.79mm or 0.740" or 47/64" at the equator. | |||||
