I am always amazed at how much detail an artisan can incorporate into such a small marble and keep it's integrity. There are six alternating colorful ribbons just below the surface that surround a white webbed latticinio swirl in the center of the core. One of the pontail marks is melted and the other pinched. The crystal clear base glass, the bright colors, and the unfinished pontail marks tell us the the marble was made in Germany sometime in the late Victorian period, circa 1880-1910, for the English game board market which was very popular at the time, hence the name ENGLISH STYLE.
CONDITION: MINT(+) 9.7 The surface is pristine with no sign of play or wear of any kind. The basal pontail mark is pinched and could have used a slight grinding and affects how the marble rolls, but this is certainly an as-made anomoly. I can't find anything else to describe about the condition other than it is just like it was the day it was made--there isn't even any dirt in the pontail marks.
