Sometimes referred to as "British style" because they were manufactured in Germany for the English game board market that was very popular during the late Victorian period. The unfinished pontail marks are further evidence of a manufacture date of circa 1880-1910.
This one has two very brightly colored, thin and narrowly separated ribbons at the core of a clear bubble-free base glass and are mirrored by two sets of lattice lines near the surface. CONDITION: NEAR MINT(+) 8.9 The surface is bright and shiny, and the pontail marks are as clean as the day they were made. All I can find, with the aid of a bright light and lens, are some faint wear marks such as you would expect to find on marbles that have been stored in a box or jar with other marbles for over 100 years. I can find no evidence play or use at all. You may click here to view the grading system I use. Size 17.18mm or 0.677" at the equator. | |||||
