Here is one of the most elusive collectibles in all of the Akro Agate long list of products: the LIMEADE OXBLOOD. The green vaseline base glass has a heavy dose of uranium oxide to give it the green tint and is the cause of it's highly UV reaction--this marble nearly glows without a black light. On the surface is a sea-green corkscrew that is followed by a thin but rich line of OXBLOOD.
The eyelash-like marks at both of the poles indicate the marble was manufactured before the infamous and controversial "pre-Freeze" improvement of early 1922. CONDITION: MINT(+) 9.7 The surface has the wet, shiny look of a brand new marble. I could only find a microscopic as-made needle point even with the help of a bright lignt and lens You may click here to view the grading system I use. Size 16.58mm or 0.618" at the equator. | |||||
