It always amazes me the amount of detail these artists were able to put into such a tiny, less than 1/2", space. Alternating pink and white ribbons run unterupted from pontail to pontail just below the surface of a crystal clear base glass. I guess this one is more on the order of a Joseph's Coat style than an Onionskin as the ribbons of color are separated by the clear glass allowing a window to the interior. Call it what you will, it is a master piece of work by artisans from over 100 years ago.
CONDITION: NEAR MINT 8.9 The surface is wet and shiny with a couple of faint scuff marks and a tiny annealing flake. There is some dirt in the pontail marks that keep this marble from a mint rating. You may click here to view the grading system I use. Size 11.72mm or 0.469" at the equator. | |||||
