Here's a very fine example of an early Akro Agate tri-color SPECIAL that some collectors are calling a "CLAUDIA" and some "JOLLY ROGER". The names are derived from the colors: bright orange and royal blue, with a line of black-coffee brown separating and at the same time highlighting the already outstanding colors. The presence of the eyelash-like marks at the poles indicate the marble was made sometime prior to the 1922 so-called "Freeze improvement" making this one of the earliest examples of American machine made marbles ever made.
CONDITION: MINT(+) 9.5 The surface is exceptionally wet and shiny with no indication of play or wear of any kind at all. Close inspection with a bright light and lens; however, reveals a couple of nearly microscopic prinprics and a small cluster of flea-bites that are even hard to see in these enlarged pictures--see left edge of the fourth picture.
