As usual, it is amazing to me how so much can be accomplished in such a small space, a good deal less than 1/2" making it a legitimate PEEWEE. The white latticinio web at the center is so tight it takes a bright light and lens, or these enlarged pictures, to tell that it's not a solid-core. Also, in hand, the marble appears to have stripes down the side of the swirl, but, as you can see in these pictures, they are a separate layer of pink, green, and blue ribbons above the web. And surrounding it all, encased just below the surface, are four sets of white lattice ribbons. A truely delightful piece of work and a tribute to a highly skilled glass artist.
None of these three stage marbles are very common, probably the solid core the most, and white latticinios are the most common of hand made swirls, the three stage latticinio is quite rare to find especially in this wonderful MINT condition. CONDITION: MINT 9.7 With a wet shiny surface and no sign of play or wear, I can find no anomolies of any kind except for one pontail mark should have been ground as there is a protrusion left where the marble was separated from the cane--see bottom of first, second, and fourth images. You may click here to view the grading system I use. Size 12.14mm or 0.478" at the equator. | |||||
