Here is a very well preserved old German handmade triple-ribbon DIVIDED CORE swirl. The ribbons are composed of a well spaced combination of opaque white and yellow trimmed with transparent green, red, and blue; outer yellow and white lattice ribbons mirror the core just below the surface. Both of the pontail marks are basically unfinished, but one shows some unfaceted finishing marks, and the other is melted to near oblivion. Judging by the pontail marks, the rather bright colors of the ribbons, and the clarity of the glass, I'd say the marble was made during the late Victorian period, circa 1880-1910.
CONDITION: MINT 9.6 The surface is wet and shiny with just a whisper of faint wear such as you can see if you look close at the first and left side of the fifth pictures. Click on the first picture for a greatly enlarged view. Both pontail marks are as clean as the day they were made. You may click here to view the grading system I use. Size 42.29mm or 1.665" at the equator. | |||||
