It looks like they cleaned all the tanks when they made this one. The primary colors are a dark rusty red with dark brown which is rather peculiar itself, but there is also a streak of a different brown around the edge and below the dark brown, and then there is a lighter, almost tan, brown color followed by a pastel Irish green as well as a pale pink and a hint of yellow amongst some more undefined colors including a corkscrew of opaque white to accompany the defining white wispy striations. Check it over carefully and you will see colors appearing and disappearing as you look. Truely a strange marble and the epitome of a Hybrid Popeye Corkscrew.
I don't see any of the little eyelash-like marks which would indicate that this example was made later than the Spring of 1922 somewhat after the incorporation of the highly controversial so-called "Freeze" improvement which eliminated the marks. CONDITION: MINT(+) 9.8 The surface is wet and shiny with no sign of wear of any kind. The thin white marks are lint debris from my cleaning rag. You may click here to view the grading system I use. Size 16.96mm or 0.628" at the equator. | |||||
