Although this marble appears to have two colors, red and orange, I believe there is only one and the difference we see is determined by the depth of the application of the red. I hesitate to call this one a Red Zebra because of the lack of aventurine, something the old-timers drilled into my head when I first started collecting marbles decades ago--A Zebra must have aventurine. I know collectors are not that strict now days and you can call it what you like, especially once you own it.
Having said all that This is a great example of one of Peltier's earliest efforts of their marble making adventure. This was made on their first machine, known as a Miller machine which is the name of the engineer who designed it. A lot of controversy, and even law suits, were about this machine, but we can cover that some other time. Most of the early Miller machine marbles were in a colored transparent glass, but they did make a few with an opaque base glass. These are quite rare. Also, most of the marbles were in the 5/8" to 11/16" size with very few of the 3/4" shooters ever made, and since they were the favorites of the kids, who prized them for their size, for the games they played, they are extremely rare.
So, we have a very, very rare example of an early Peltier National Line Rainbo Miller machine shooter that remains in excellent very near to mint condition even considering it's 100 year old age.
CONDITION: NEAR MINT(+) 8.9 I've seen a lot of marbles in worse condition than this one graded mint. But, there is no denying a couple of tiny pinpricks that are stationed right together near the center of the fourth picture. Using a very bright light and jewelers loupe, I can also see just the faintest whisper of wear that is completely invisible to the naked eye. Remember, these pictures are greatly enlarged. Also, as with all of my marbles, your complete SATISFACTION is GUARANTEED.
