With a translucent cloudy white base glass, a member of the Akro ACE family of marbles, and a beautiful cobalt blue corkscrew that is followed closely by a generous application of anemic oxblood, we have what collectors refer to as a BLUE OXBLOOD ACE.
When blood is drawn that is quite dark like the oxblood in this marble it is said to be anemic because of it's lack, or near lack, of oxygen; Hence, when we see dark oxblood, such as seen on this marble, the oxblood is refered to as anemic. The little eyelash-like marks are visible at both ends of the corkscrew, fifth and sixth images, indicating the marble was manufactured before the installation of the so-call Freeze improvment which eliminated the marks at the seams of Akro marbles after 1922. CONDITION: MINT 9.4 The surface has the wet shiny look of a new mint marble, but there is a speck of sub-surface debris as shown at about 3:00 in the first image and a collapsed surface air bubble that you can see near the center of the sixth. There is only the slightest whisper of light wear that was just too faint to capture even with these enlarged images. You may click here to view the grading system I use. Size 15.24mm or 0.600" at the equator. | |||||
