Yellow is one of the hardest to find, if not the hardest, of the transparent colors used in the making of antique German handmade marbles. To add to the rarity of this old YELLOW CLEARIE, there is a generous infusion of medium sized MICA flakes. Also, there is only a single PONTAIL mark indicating that it is either the first or the last marble off of the particular cane from which the marble was extracted. That single pontail mark is unfinished indication a manufacture date of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. After all of these features have been noted, the final and possibly most important rare quality of this little gem is the wonderful MINT condition which is exceptionally rare considering the age and the fact that marbles of this size were made to be played with by young boys.
CONDITION: MINT(+) 9.8 or better. The surface has the nearly perfect finish of a brand new marble. There isn't even a speck of dirt in the pontail mark. You may click here to view the grading system I use. Size 15.38mm or 0.605" at the equator. | |||||
