MINT 23/32" Antique German Handmade PEPPERMINT SWIRL

Item# GM1930
There are two types of these old German PEPPERMINT SWIRLS: one is a striped opaque where the pink and blue bands are applied to the surface of an opaque white marble--these are extremely rare; the other type, of which this is one, is a JOSEPH's COAT type, where the color is applied to the surface of a transparent clear base glass marble.
One of the pontail marks is a melted pig-tail, first picture, and the other has been exquisitely ground. This shows that the marbles were some of the earliest types of glass marbles made, circa 1850-1870. It has been said that these were made for shipping to the United States in honour of our up-comming 100th anniversary.
I've been collecting marbles for a long time, heck, I've had this web-site for well over 20 years now, and I must say this is one of the best designed Peppermints I've had. I have two others now of this calibre that I will be listing soon, at 23/32" this is the smallest of the three, but it is still of the shooter size and you all know how hard MINT examples of these are to find. You will be hard pressed to find another better made or in as good condition.
CONDITION: MINT 9.6 or better.
The surface is wet and shiny and I can find no evidence of play or wear. There are a few as-made possible anomolies that the pictures describe better than I can.
You may click here to view the grading system I use.

Size 18.14mm or 0.714" at the equator.
