Here's one by the RAVENSWOOD NOVELTY WORKS that I've noticed has become more and more popular over the last few years: collectors have named it a BLUE RAVEN. I've had a few of these over the years, and at 23/32", it is the largest in my experience and is extremely rare. Hard to tell what the base color is, or if there is one, but there is white and at least three shades of brown that seem to follow each other around in a swirl pattern that is interspersed with a couple of shades of blue swirls that also seem to follow themselves around, and finally separate swirls of a deep rich cobalt blue from which the marble gets its name.
I have described the marble to the best of my ability, but if I have anything incorrect, I am trusting to the marble community to get in touch with me and I will certainly upgrade this description. CONDITION: MINT 9.4 The surface is wet and shiny with no sign of wear at all. It is in the same condition as when it left the factory. Having said that, there are some anomolies that are from the manufacturing process: The marble is slightly out of round by about 0.011" as shown below where the SIZE is shown, and can be seen in the pictures, in particular, the fifth. Also, the surface has a sort of wavy quality to it, that is also readily visible in the pictures. You may click here to view the grading system I use. Size 18.42mm or 0.714-0.725" at the equator. | |||||
