Deep red transparent swirls that flame on the surface of a sort of off-white base glass that seems to have a rather pinkish tint. I'm fairly certain that this one was made by the Alley Agate Company, probably during their St. Mary's sojourn, circa 1937-1948. As most of you know, my knowledge of West Virginia swirls is quite limited, so if anyone happens to know more about this marble, please let me know and I will upgrade this description accordingly.
CONDITION: MINT(+) 9.7 Beautiful wet shiny surface with no sign of wear of any kind. All I can find, even using a bright light and a jeweler's loupe, is a couple of tiny melted dimples, and even smaller as mades. Everything is readily seen in the pictures. You may click here to view the grading system I use. Size 16.80mm or 0.661" at the equator. | |||||
