Nearly equal amounts of opaque yellow and blue, and transparent red make two full turns around each other with a tracer of dark green/brown following along in the yellow. With these colors, collectors have long called this one an Akro Agate SUPERMAN--Highly valued by all Akro collectors especially at this large 13/16" size.
There are a number of these around, but nearly all are dug examples with even the best of them at no better than near mint condition. This one however must have beeen taken home, by one of the workers, directly from the factory, because it is untouched in beautiful MINT(+) condition disproving the rumor that ALL of the SUPERMAN marbles produced were dug. This one certainly has never been in the ground. CONDITION: MINT(+) 9.8 Beautiful wet shiny surface with no sign of wear at all. At the center of the fifth image there almost appears to be a hairline fracture, but I assure you it is only the seam, from which after close inspection, shows some of the eyelash-like, pre-freeze, marks eminating from it. There are no open air bubbles, pinpricks, or even any dimples that I can find with a bright light and jeweler's loupe--A museum quality specimen. You may click here to view the grading system I use. Size 20.57mm or 0.810" at the equator. | |||||
