Opaque brown and white swirls travel in a sort of spiral pattern throughout a transparent blue base glass. Made by the Jackson Marble Co., another of the Pennsboro marble companies that were prevalent in the 1940s. There aren't many of these around, mainly because Jackson was only in business for about a year, circa 1945-46, and there is not a lot to distinguish them from other West Virginia manufacturers other than the transparent colors of base glass. This is a rare and exceptionally hard find indeed, especially since there is no sign of this being a dug marble and is in wonderful MINT condition.
CONDITION: MINT(+) 9.7 or better. The surface is as wet and shiny as any brand new marble. I can find no anomalies to describe on this marble. This is what marble collectors are looking for. You may click here to view the grading system I use. Size 14.28mm or 0.562" at the equator. | |||||
