Here is one of the quite hard to find members of the Akro Agate CORKSCREW family: a TRUE AUGER,, with a thin blade of beautiful royal blue runs from the surface all the way to the core of the crystal clear, bubble filled, base glass and makes nearly four full turns around the marble. Remarkably, all of the bubbles are floating around on the inside of the marble and none appear to have made it to the surface, except for maybe a couple which collapsed inward leaving a smooth edged melted dimple appearance. A very nice example and a credit to any high-end collection--including mine.
NOTE: These AUGER type CORKSCREWs are not to be confused with a SNAKE type where the cork is a fat, or thin, ribbon that runs on and just below the surface--not even approaching the center. CONDITION: MINT(+) Beautiful wet, shiny surface with absolutely no sign of wear of any kind what-so-ever. All I can find with a bright light and lens are the beformentioned tiny melted dimples and a roller track at one of the poles that are clearly as-made during production.
