Eggyolk yellow and opaque white ribbons swirl on and in a highly UV reactive vaseline yellow base glass to make what collectors have long called the Akro Agate LEMONADE. Although this example fully qualifies as a corkscrew in that it travels continuously from one pole to the other, the path it takes is a somewhat meandering one, so I, like many others, choose to call it a SWIRL.
As stated, and as the first picture depicts, the LEOMONADE is highly reactive to a UV, Ultra-Violet, light. This is caused by the inclusion of the radioactive compound Uranium Oxide. Because of the need for Uranium for the developement of the Atomic Bomb during World War II, the use of Uranium Oxide was banned for glass makers during the early 1940s; so, that helps to date the marble to the late 1930s and earlier. CONDITION: MINT(+) 9.8 WET MINT. PRISTINE! I can find no flaws on this marble. MUSEUM QUALITY. You may click here to view the grading system I use. Size 15.83mm or 0.623" at the equator. | |||||
