Here is a drop dead gorgeous example of an old German handmad ONIONSKIN. There are opposing yellow and white "skin" panels that are covered with red spots and streaks on the yellow, and cobalt blue spots and streaks over the white. One of the pontail marks is exquisitely ground and faceted while the other is a melted pig-tail, which helps us to determine the date of manufacture to the earliest period of glass marble history, circa 1850-1870.
CONDITION: MINT(+) 9.7 or better. Superior wet shiny surface with no sign of wear at all. In fact, I can find nothing to describe even using a bright light and 10x jeweler's loupe. You may click here to view the grading system I use. Size 31.26mm or 1.231" at the equator. | |||||
