Lots of things were going on in the marble world around the turn of the 20th century. The English style handmades that Germany was producing for the game board market, the invention of machinery for the manufacture of glass marbles, and bright shiny LUTZ marbles of the handmade variety.
This one with the nice fat ribbon edged in sparkling goldstone and set in a crystal clear bright green glass, being one of the rarest, hardest to find, and quite possibly one of the most attractive of all. I have a notion that this very beauty may have led to their short supply today. They were so attractive that every young boy lucky enough to possess one waisted no time in showing it off and using it to compete in the many marble games of the times. I can assure you that this one has seen no such play time or even pocket wear since the day it was separated from the pontail. CONDITION: MINT(+) 9.8 or better. This is one of those few that come along that have no anomalies to describe. All there is, is a shiny wet surface on a marble that looks as it did the day it was made.
