All signs of play and wear have been removed by a first rate polishing job on this very early example of America's first efforts into the arena of marble manufacturing by the Martin F. Chrisnten and Sons company, circa early 1900s. The beautiful "nine" figure and the following tail are shown in the pictures. Really an eye-catching specimen that shows the depth and complexity of the work that it took to hand gather these relics one at a time.
CONDITION: POLISHED: Whoever did the polishing work on this marble is a first class artist indeed. There are no tale tell polishing marks, and I had to break out the bright light and lens just to prove to myself the marble was indeed polished. I have no qualms having this wonderful symbol of the craft in my collection. You may click here to view the grading system I use. Size 14.72mm or 0.579" at the equator. | |||||
