Here is one of those old Akro Agate corkscrews that are rather hard to describe. The base glass isn't quite clear, but it really isn't cloudy either as one of the ACE or MOSS family. I guess "hazy" would be a good description. On the surface are a strange mixture of an orange striations blended with a rusty brown corkscrew that makes two full turns about. Just beneath the surface, are, what appears to be lavender, pink, and peach. The pictures are quite accurate, so you can try to figure them out for yourself. The overall pattern seems to be that of a spiral corkscrew as you can tell from the fifth picture that shows an almost clear center all the way through.
The color combination is strange but intriguing and really catch your eye demanding closer examination. CONDITION: MINT(+) 9.7 The surface is wet and shiny with no evidence of play or wear. All I can find are a few tiny melted dimples that are shown in the pictures--very common. You may click here to view the grading system I use. Size 15.95mm or 0.628" at the equator. | |||||
