Rare during any time, past or present, for any marble collector. Made during the turn of the 20th century, when America was first producing marbles of their own, circa 1910s. The advent of the First World War forced them out of business around 1915 from which they never reopened. It is reported that the oxblood recipe was purchased from Navarre glass, and from there ended up with Akro Agate. This is one of those earliest of American hand-gathered marbles.
CONDITION: POLISHED. The suface is wet and shiny and there are a few residual pinpoints. By these residuals, and ths small amount of missing pattern, it's very likely that the polishing didn't amount to much more that an BUFF. Either way, not the original surface but plenty MFC BRICK pattern left to recognize, admire, and show off. You may click here to view the grading system I use. Size 19.32mm or 0.760" at the equator. | |||||
