Here is a HUGE, well over an inch, old Akro toe-breaker with a nice wide OXBLOOD patch and a light blue one on the other side of a snow white base glass. This is probably the largest Akro I've ever had my hands on. I've heard they made a very few up to 1-1/4" but it's been my experience that the large ones usually fall just shy of a full inch. You have to look close to see them, but the little eyelash-like marks are present at the seams indicating this is one of the older, pre-Freeze, marbles that were made prior to the Spring of 1922--nearly 100 years ago.
CONDITION: MINT(+) 9.6-9.7 The surface is beautifully wet and shiny with no sign of play or wear of any kind. There are some various size melted dimples, a touch mark with a tiny open air bubble in it, and what looks like some sort of roller mark. Nearly all of this requires magnification to see enough to describe. You may click here to view the grading system I use. Size 26.18mm or 1.030" at the equator. | |||||
