With three primary colors CORKSCREWing around each other: red, almost creamy off-white, and rare powder blue, we'll just call this one an Akro Agate THREE COLOR SPECIAL, but the red also has a nice peach ribbon on its edge and the powder blue has a dark blue tracer.
The larger than average, 11/16 plus, size would have been considered a SHOOTER back in the days of tournaments and dirt circles; but collectors look for a bit larger. I feel like I can almost see the little eyelash-like marks at one of the poles, but I could just be fooling myself. This one was probably made after the so-call "Freeze Improvement" was install on the machines that eliminated these marks, circa 1922. CONDITION: MINT 9.6-9.7 The surface is pristine with no sign of play or wear of any kind. Very close inspection reveals a short, shallow melted scratch-like line and some scattered needle point sized melted dimples. Everything is clearly as-made and so insignificant as to not even show up in these enlarging pictures. You may click here to view the grading system I use. Size 17.77mm or 0.699" at the equator. | |||||
