I was always taught that a SNAKE corkscrew is a colored ribbon corkscrew on and just below the surface of a transparent clear base marble; also, that an ONYX is a transparent colored marble with a white corkscrew--this one is both and neither. The base glass for this one is a very rare, for any of the marble manufacturers, transparent yellow. The corkscrew, that makes 2-1/2 to 3 turns around the perimeter, is another unusual seldom used color of bright orange. Quite an eye-catcher and in this beautiful mint condition, a worthy keeper for a high-end collection, or just a nice display on a shelf of a lighted curio.
CONDITION: MINT(+) 9.8 WET MINT unflawed surface. I can find no flaws at all on this marble. Quite a feat for a childs toy nearly 100 years old. You may click here to view the grading system I use. Size 16.35mm or 0.644" at the equator. | |||||
