Three distinct red, white, and blue corkscrews wind around each other forming what Akro Agate marketed as the TRI-COLOR SPECIAL. Mint examples of any corkscrews with more than two colors have become increasingly hard to find. This one shows the little eyelash-like crimp marks at each of the poles indicating the marble was made sometime before the spring of 1922 when the so-called "Freeze" improvement was installed eliminating these marks. Finding one of these in this wonderful mint condition after 100 years is a find indeed worth sharing.
CONDITION: WET MINT 9.8 or better PRISTINE Untouched wet looking surface has no flaws that I can find either with a bright light and 10x jewelers loupe or these enlarged pictures. As close to perfect as you're going to find in any antique marble of which at over 100 years old certainly qualifies. You may click here to view the grading system I use. Size 16.38mm or 0.635" at the equator. | |||||
