Here's a very large old toe-breaker: an antique German handmade from the early nineteenth century, circa 1850-1870. There is a well designed white lattincio web at the core of a clear base glass with siz dual colored bands well placed just below the surface and surrounding the core. The pictures, as well as, in hand give the appearance of a dark colored core, but that's because of the surrounding bands: they are translucent and the light passing through takes on a darker, rose-purple look.
CONDITION: MINT(-) The surface has a nice wet shiny look with just the faintest whisper of "pocket wear" for lack of a better term. Also, there are some shallow "tool" marks near the pontail ends. I can find no surface air bubbles, even those with melted edges. Neither are there any bruises, nicks, pinpricks, or impact marks of any kind. This is one of the rare cases where a near mint marble of this caliber is better than having one of the mint minus examples that while being mint have as-made blow holes or fractures and such... This marble has none of that, just a tiny bit of microscopic wear. You may click here to view the grading system I use. Size 43.89mm or 1.728" at the equator. | |||||
