At way over 2", they couldn't have taken much off of this marble during the POLISH job that was accomplished, for one thing, none of the outer ribbons were touched. Since the pontail marks have been removed, that can no longer be used as a guide to the manufacture date, but the colors, howbeit brilliantly colorful, are old school, and I've never even heard of one of the later period marbles of this size anywhere; so, my guess would be circa 1850-1870.
CONDITION: POLISHED: The surface is amazingly wet and shiny, probably more so when the marble was new. There is very little residual damage, most of which is visible in the fifth picture. You may click here to view the grading system I use. Size 58.95mm or 2.321" at the equator. | |||||
