DESCRIPTION: Of the types of old German handmade marbles classified as DIVIDED CORE Swirls, the most common are the three and four ribbon types, and the rarest is the DOUBLE RIBBON. There are also some five and six ribbons that are rare as well. This excellent example has multiple colors on both sides of two extra-wide ribbons with mirrored lattice lines toward and just below the surface. One of the pontail marks is ground, and the other is a melted, to near oblivion, pigtail. The brilliant colors and this large size, 1-7/64", are tough to find, especially in this beautiful MINT condition.
CONDITION: MINT 9.6 The surface is wet and shiny with no sign of play or wear at all. With the help of bright light and lens, I can only find a single faint, thinly outlined circle that the pictures failed to pick up and don't show up on display either. Everything else you see in the pictures is air bubbles down beneath the surface. You may click here to view the grading system I use. Size 28.00mm or 1.104" at the equator. | |||||
