Opalescence, in glass, is achieved when a transparent glass is mixed with small amounts of white, and once the mixture is achieved, the whole thing is cooked again, and the resulting glass has the cloudy white with the opalescent features that are desired: that is what the base glass of this marble is made of, and is coated on the surface by patches and ribbons of red, blue, and yellow. Pink appears when the underside of the opaque colored surface glass is viewed through the cloudy white opalescent base. This has become one of Vitro Agate's most popular collecables lately, and, as with almost all collectables, condition is nearly everything; There will be no disappointments with your choice of this lovely gem.
