I've always had a great admiration for the JOSEPH's COAT swirl with their many colors and the precision used by the artisan in their making; but this one stands out even more than most. The base glass is as crystal clear as some of the newer acrylics. There is a profusion of colored bands and ribbons stretching from pole to pole, on the way to a 360 ° application of said. The basal pontail mark is unfinished and the other is a melted pig-tail which helps us to determine a manufacturer's time frame to sometime during the latter Victorian era, circa 1870-1910. There are a number of the green, both dark and light, ribbons that contain aventurine--doesn't appear to be much to begin with, but the more you look the more appears.
CONDITION: MINT 9.5 The surface is wet and shiny with no sign of wear at all. There is one spot where it appears that a flaw of some description was just mashed flat with one of his tools while he still had it good and hot. The pontail marks are a clean as the day they were made. You may click here to view the grading system I use. Size 18.66mm or 0.734" at the equator. | |||||
