This is an extremely rare German handmade marble. There are three sets of double ribbons, white, yellow, and powder blue, each housing a band of fine coppery colored lutz particles that seem to come alive as a light passes over them. Sorry, but like aventurine, my lack of photographic skills are apparent when I attempt to photograph the sparklies.
There are many of the black based marbles of the late 19 century; such as, the ones with two bands of lutz. But these are not usually considered to be an Indian Lutz. There is also the very rare Indian Lutz of the black onionskin variety; of which many more were produced than there were of this three band variety--rarest of all lutz marbles. I have been collecting and selling marbles for around 30 years, and I've only seen two of these in all that time and I bought them both. The other one is gone. Oh yeah! I almost forgot to mention the large, 23/32", shooter size. CONDITION: MINT(-) The surface is wet and shiny with no sign of play or wear anywhere on the marble. There is an open air-bubble on one of the blue bands shown in the first and third pictures. You may click here to view the grading system I use. Size 18.21mm or 0.717" at the equator. | |||||
