At 0.747" the actual size is just a hair less than the highly desirable full 3/4", but it is much closer to 3/4" than to the nearest measurement of 47/64"(0.734)--64ths is the smallest increment I am going to deal with, so 3/4-".
The base glass is the translucent yellow vaseline glass found in the Akro Agate Ade family of marbles, predominately the LEMONADE. These marbles are highly UV (Ultra Violet) light reactive and glow a bright green when exposed. NOTE: the LIMEADE version comes in a translucent green vaseline glass which is even more reactive to the UV light and, if anything, glows brighter than the Yellow due to the higher amount of uranium oxide in the green glass mixture than that used in the yellow. It has been established that this marble is of the yellow vaseline variety of the LEMONADE. One of the defining aspects of a LIMEADE is that there are green swirls in the vaseline glass. A LEMONADE base glass with green swirls then becomes a HYBRID LEMONADE/LIMEADE. Thus being of this large SHOOTER size and highly UV reactive, this example is reaching the highest level of the Akro Agate elites: A LEMONADE with OXBLOOD in this shooter size is always a prize, and a LIMEADE of this immensity with OXBLOOD is nearly inconceivable. But a hybrid mix of the two is just plain mouth-watering eye candy. But now for the icing on the cake that makes this marble one that collectors dream about: the gorgeous WET MINT condition. The price may at first seem rather high on this one, but upon consideration of the MUSUEM quality, and that this is the only one I've seen in all my years of collecting, which includes having bought and sold many CAC Guineas and multi-colored Flames, Peltier Golden Rebels, Blue Galaxies, Supermans, Indian Lutz and all of the rest too numerous to mention, this is the only one of these I have ever even seen a picture of, much less owned. I could probably stand to be priced with the Guinea Cobras and Blue Galaxies, which are $1000 higher yet. I also must consider how soon it may be fefore I can find another CONDITION: WET MINT 9.8 The surface is pristine untouched...A close inspection with a bright light and lens reveals only a single shallow melted surface air bubble displayed in the fourth picture just Northeast of the center. Here is undoubtedly one of the most desirable marbles I have found in a very long time. You may click here to view the grading system I use. Size 18.99mm or 0.743"-0.747" at the widest point. | |||||
