Antique German Handmade: MINT 13/16" JOSEPH's COAT SHOOTER

Item# GM2358
This is a clear base marble with bands of primarily orange supported and highlighted by yellow, red, lavender green and a brownish looking color. There are thin gaps between some of the ribbons that allow visual access to the interior of an empty clear base glass. All of this together describes what collectors have for decades so aptly been calling a JOSEPH's COAT of many colors. The name has shrunken to just plain Joseph's Coat and sometimes even J-coat with this bright and beautiful color scheme as one of the most popular.
The pontail marks are both unfinished which along with the unusually brilliant colors and exceptionally clear base glass help us to determine that the marble was made sometime during the later part of the German contribution to the history of glass marble manufacturing, circa 1880-1910. This still leaves even the newest of these over 100 years old.
CONDITION: MINT(+) 9.7 The surface is wet and shiny and there is no sign of play or wear. In fact the only anomaly of any kind I can find is a small grind mark that can best be seen near the center of the first picture and at the top of the third.

Size 20.60mm or 0.810" at the equator.
