The base glass is a robin's-egg blue that supports four red and two golden yellow ribbons that meet at the two seams. Collectors have long recognized this combination as the Peltier Glass Company NLR "SUPERMAN."
Notice the yellow ribbons share their space with some amount of red, and one of the "red" ribbons is almost orange due to blending with yellow. I suppose you could make a case for the identity of this marble to be a SUPERBOY. However, with two other red ribbons having no affiliation with yellow, I maintain that "SUPERMAN" is the correct identification. The explosive growth of the marble collecting community has placed a strain on the availability of all collectible marbles, especially those of the high-end order such as this Peltier SUPERMAN. By high-end, I mean not only those that are scarce and command high prices, but those still in the hard-to-find mint condition as when they left the factory. Consider when comparing with other examples of the Peltier NLR SUPERMAN: the unique color design, the singular patterning of the ribbons, and the spectacular mint(+) condition. All of this, in aggregate, in my opinion, makes this a genuine MUSEUM QUALITY marble. CONDITION: MINT(+) 9.8 The surface is PRISTINE as if never touched.
