Germany imported their handmade marbles to the US during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The onionskin is a clear-based marble with a white or yellow layer of "skin" covering the surface. Artisans then applied bands and streaks of color. The colored lines of this example are all blue.
I am always fascinated by the skill required to manufacture marbles of any size, more so, for what it must take to reduce such an effort to a marble that must not have a diameter that measures more than 1/2". CONDITION: MINT 9.6 The surface is shiny with only a hint of light, nearly microscopic, wear. The pontail marks are as clean as the day they were made.
