Here's one that will take several tries for google, or anyone else, to find: WET MINT 3/4" Akro Agate HYBRID PURPLE/YELLOW POPEYE with unparalleled eye-appeal. Striations show nearly every shade of purple available, from the dark royal purple to violet to lavender, and even a line or two of blue, if I'm not mistaken. I'm afraid my camera work didn't capture all of the various hues of these variegations.
Popeye marbles are two-color corkscrews assigned to a clear base glass with opaque white striations. Occasionally, when changing colors from one run to another, e.g., red/yellow to purple/yellow, it sometimes happens that residual colors of the original run may be leftover and show up in the new, resulting in an extra color showing up in the current run. We call these POPEYEs with more than two colors a HYBRID. The contrast of all these colors with the white striations seemingly floating in the crystal clear base glass opens small windows that allow viewing to the opposite side of the marble. Because of the mesmerizing effect, caution is advised when using magnification to inspect this marble for condition. CONDITION: WET MINT 9.8 or possibly even better. The surface has a glossy wet shine with no sign of play or wear of any kind what-so-ever! This beauty certainly qualifies as a MUSEUM piece. You may click here to view the grading system I use.
