Six sets of yellow, white, green, orange, and blue ribbons traverse the surface of a clear handmade marble. Each band of color is separated from the next by a small clear space that allows viewing of the interior.
The clean, well-made pontail marks aid in determining the manufacture date toward the end of the German involvement in handmade marbles, circa 1880-1910. CONDITION: MINT(-) The pontail marks are especially clean, a good sign the marble has never seen action on the playground. I can find no evidence of wear, but some scattered "pinpricks," for lack of a better word, about the size of a grain of Kosher salt, are scattered here and there. You may click here to view the grading system I use. Size 18.11mm or 0.713" at the equator. | |||||
