I consider this to be one of my better finds. I have always had an affinity with Popeye shooters. They are not like other marbles; they don't lose any of the aesthetics of the smaller ones, and the aesthetics of this one are impressive. The bright blue and yellow and the nearly congealed white wispy thread take a convolute tour around the marble, and somehow there is green showing up.
The star of the show is the legitimately wet-looking surface--incredible.
CONDITION: This marble looks so great on display; it's hard to imagine that it's not entirely perfect. I use a 10x jeweler's or printer's loupe and a bright, 150w light to find any anomalies I can. I can see a single surface air bubble and a few almost microscopic pinpoints scattered around. One or two sparkles, e.g., bubble reflections or similar descriptions, show themselves and disappear as I rotate the marble under the light. I seem to use a lot of words to describe such a bunch of nearly nothing. You may click here to view the grading system I use. Size 18.85mm or 0.742" at the equator. | |||||
