MFC or Akro? The decision I have to make every time I try to describe one of these OXBLOOD BRICK marbles. Not all hand-gathered marbles have the familiar "9" and tunnel pattern precisely as prescribed, but the twist and cut line are usually apparent. I can see a bit of a nine design in the first picture. The remaining images attempt to follow the tail in quarter-turn rotations to the cut-line shown in the sixth. I believe this is a Martin F. Christensen product from the early twentieth century, circa 1910. The size is uncommonly large, and the condition is extraordinary.
CONDITION: MINT 9.6 The surface is wet and shiny as you would expect of a marble in mint condition. The fifth and sixth pictures show some nearly invisible as-made anomalies, but I can't see any signs of wear at all. You may click here to view the grading system I use. Size 19.84mm or 0.781" at the equator. | |||||
