I have never seen a marble quite like this one. I'm unsure of the maker but will assume it to have been Akro Agate and describe what I see verbally. I would appreciate anyone who can offer more or better information to please let me know, and I will be happy to include it here.
The base glass is POWDER BLUE or sky blue, a rare color in the marble world. The stripes, or bands, laid on the surface take on the form of the patch style, i.e., everything lies between two apparent seems mainly on one side of the marble, unlike anything I've seen. At least two of the areas of color have all of the characteristics of the famous Akro OXBLOOD; the rest appear to be variants of brown. My calipers show a digital measurement of 0.744", closer to 3/4" than to the closest fractional equivalent of 47/64", Certainly qualifying as a SHOOTER. The physical condition appears to be MINT. CONDITION: MINT 9.6 With the help of a bright light and jeweler's loupe, I can see a shiny, wet-looking surface and nothing that shows any evidence of handling. The pictures bear witness to some tiny needlepoint-sized melted dimples and a small subsurface black speck. You may click here to view the grading system I use. Size 18.91mm or 0.744" at the equator. | |||||
