DESCRIPTION: An Akro Agate Popeye is defined as two differently colored corkscrews on a clear base glass with opaque white wispy threads. This marble is all of that.
Orange and green are the corkscrew colors selected to adorn the surface of this crystal clear marble with the white threads.
The green corkscrew is at once transparent, translucent, and opaque: Most of the stream for the green corkscrew is transparent. Most of the green corkscrew is either transparent or translucent, see the first picture for a better explaination. The orange corkscrew is reminiscent of a transparent "wash" with translucent to semi-opaque orange streaks. For some reason, the pictures called for more red than was needed to duplicate the orange hue of this marble, but I assure you, this marble has no red anywhere. Also, the orange streaks are not as readily visible on the marble without bright, direct lighting, or photography. Akro Agate did not use orange all that much. Orange Akro Agates are hard to find; at least they always have been for me. The base glass is crystal clear, providing a wide area to view all the activity inside. The wispy white threads are abundant, but they seem to have spun themselves into a fat tornado-like auger corkscrew. A brown line lies on the surface between the green and orange corkscrews, possibly forged when the heat of the streams melted a little of the orange and green glass as they joined the base glass stream. CONDITION: WET MINT 9.8 -9.9 You can only get so good. The surface is as perfect as it gets. There is not a blemish to be found, not even one of those ever-present melted dimples. An undefined sub-surface dark green splotch is shown in the sixth picture to be just below the edge of the transparent orange. MUSEUM QUALITY!!! You may click here to view the grading system I use.
