DESCRIPTION: Sitting in my Popeye box, this one looks like most red and yellow Popeyes. After a quick rub with the old microfiber cleaning rag for pictures, I was sort of forced to realize what was going on with this marble. I imagine some of this is a matter of blends and like factors, but regardless, these peculiarities are legitimate enough to be photographed.
The third picture best shows how the dark transparent red first lightens to a blended opaque pink-red double corkscrew, and then just as the white wispy threads start to come in view, there is a thin line of translucent pale pink. The first picture shows the pale pink segment as well. With all of the red-to-pink activity happening, it is easy to miss the translucent orange component that seems to be hiding, occasionally emerging from beneath the red, or sometimes only showing itself from certain angles. Again, the third image, with affirmation from the fifth and sixth, demonstrates my meaning. An unexplained observation: the third and sixth picture shows the orange between the red and the yellow corkscrews. The fifth image shows the orange between the red corkscrew and the clear base glass. Hmm! CONDITION: WET MINT 9.8 or even better. I've inspected this marble closely with a bright light and magnification, and I can find no anomalies to report. This is as good as it gets. You may click here to view the grading system I use. Size 16.28mm or 0.641" at the equator. | |||||
