DESCRIPTION: This design is impeccable. Three equally spaced sets of lattice lines run just below the surface of a crystal clear base glass to mirror the three lovely white ribbons with pink jelly faces not very far below.
One of the pontail marks is a little twisted pigtail (second picture), and the other is exquisitely ground and faceted (first picture). The pontail mark helps date the marble to the beginning of glass marble manufacturing in 1850, The method used for finishing marbles until discontinued around 1870. CONDITION: NEAR MINT The surface has a nice shine, but there is some light wear in the form of faint scratches I like to call pocket wear. I see no sign of impact marks or the like, and surprisingly few as-made little dimples or pinpricks, nothing severe enough to affect the shine a great deal. It looks fantastic in my display.
