DESCRIPTION: This marble is one of the most difficult to describe marbles I've dealt with yet. At first, it looked to me like a Bronze Bee. And a bit closer inspection shows some of the ribbons are indeed a deep black-coffee brown. As the dark brown thins out over the base glass, a lighter brown part of the ribbon is easily seen. Also, the fifth image shows a heavy concentration of the bronze aventurine in the top ribbon.
At this point, I become pretty unsure of myself. The other ribbons look black, alright. And maybe it's because I wish it to be so, but I'm not so sure that there isn't indigo or a very dark blue involved, or, at least, some blue aventurine in the mix. I am almost certain I could see blue reflections in some of these ribbons. The extreme upper right portion of the second picture shows some of what I mean. Even with the improved aventurine pictures, better than my normal at least, there is considerably more than is shown. CONDITION: MINT 9.5-9.6 The surface is bright and shiny, and I'm not seeing any signs of play or wear at all. I can only find a crease line here and there separating the colors or the ribbons. Two, as-made, melted pits, most likely associated with aventurine, are shown from different aspects in a number of the pictures. You may click here to view the grading system I use. Size 16.85mm or 0.663" at the equator. | |||||
