DESCRIPTION: I have already given up trying to figure out how the spinners Akro used to make their corkscrews could make two or three styles of marbles at the same time, such as this one. The wispy white threads have spun themselves into an apparent solid white corkscrew. The yellow corkscrew is a razor ribbon auger, while the green and the solid portion of the white makes two snake corkscrews on the surface of the transparent clear base glass.
The glass-master could not have created a better Popeye even if he'd had the opportunity. I realize that green and yellow are close to the most common of the Popeyes, but they seem to have gone the extra mile to give each one the extra pizzaz that makes us collectors want it so badly. Someone before us thought a lot of it, too, considering the care that must have been given to keep it in this beautiful wet mint condition until we came along. CONDITION: MINT(+) 9.7-9.8 The surface has the glossy wet shine of a brand new marble. I've examined this with a bright light and 10x loupe and found nothing significant to report. Ready to fit into any high-end Popeye collection where beauty and condition are essential You may click here to view the grading system I use. Size 16.12mm or 0.634" at the equator. | |||||
